Following in the footsteps of the 18th century Lunar Men

Our tour will be for 5 days - 4 nights and includes executive coach travel throughout and 4 nights half board accommodation at the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria in Sheffield

Day 1 - We will leave Newton Abbot by coach for the journey to Sheffield and will visit the Wedgwood Museum en route to our hotel.

Day 2 - Visit the Peak Cavern and have a guided tour of Castleton (home to the unique semi-precious stone Blue John) and the Georgian spa town of Buxton.

Day 3 - Visit to Chatsworth House and Gardens.  A guided tour will show us this palatial home which dates back to the 16th century and there will be time to explore the incredible gardens. Later we head back to Sheffield where the rest of the day will be free to explore the city at leisure.

Day 4 - we head to Sir Richard Arkwright's Cromford Mills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Here we enjoy a guided tour before being admitted to the Visitor Centre and the 'Arkwirght Experience'.   In the afternoon there will be a visit to Renishaw Hall and Gardens for a guided tour of the country house which has been home to the Sitwell family for almost 400 years. There will be time to explore the Italianate gardens and the Sitwell Museum.

Day 5 - After checking out of the hotel, we depart for our homeward journey, making a stop in Birmingham en route for a guided tour of Soho House, a favourite meeting place of the Lunar Society, the beautifully restored Georgian home of Matthew Boulton.  Following a light lunch, we will depart for home.

The Cost of this tour is £589 per person based on 2 sharing.  Single supplement will be £72 per person.
